Honoring Mariah’s birthday, here’s the video that changed her public persona forever. Before “Honey” it was early 90s girl next door Mariah, singing Christmas carols, dressing conservatively and all things proper, then - after her divorce - it was all naughty Mimi from the block, Sasha Fierce Mariah, wearing just bikinis and heels, purring seductively at rappers and generally cranking up the sexy. Guess which of her alter egos won the battle?
In the clip Mimi stars as agent M, a sort of female James Bond. She is kidnapped and interrogated by thuggish Italian looking mafiosos, but manages to escape pretending to speak bad Spanish and jetskiing to a desert island. And somehow this is all a metaphor of her prison-like marriage to Tony Mottola.
