Corey Hart - “Sunglasses At Night” (1983)

I believe Corey Hart here is directly responsible for validating the supreme act of douchebaggery in question, and that is not a thing that can be taken lightly, i mean, history will not remember this song fondly, if at all. But it should, because Corey had better intentions. In the clip he’s probably the only one that doesn’t rock the shades all the time, and, believe it or not, he’s jailed for this uncacceptable behavior. The fascists will have none of that. Everybody else happily goofs around with huge sunglasses, and it’s really just a metaphor for drinking the big brother’s koolaid instead of facing the harsh 80s neon lights of reality.

Maybe i’m reading too much into it, but 20 plus years later this feels profound, almost prophetic.
